Société Environnementale Acadienne (SEA) is a non-profit organization based in Clare that encourages environmental research and citizen science.
What is citizen science?
Citizen science describes research projects that involve one or many members of the public working together towards a common goal. Citizen science is particularly useful in ecological research where large volumes of data is important (Klemann-Junior, 2017).
Our projects are developed specifically for community involvement and require no experience to participate!
We believe environmental citizen science is a perfect fit in Clare because:
Life in Clare often involves the natural environment
Clare has a lot of community pride and a strong volunteer community
Clare is a very well connected community
Clare is an amazing ecological area to study
If this has gotten you interested in citizen science, we’d love to hear to from you. Check out our current projects below to see if one might interest you. Remember, no experience is necessary for any of our projects. If you have a different environmental project in mind, send us a message and we’ll help develop it!
